Despite the borrowed title this is really a few reflections and links for my benefit – a sort of resolution reminder, as one of my aims for this year is to spend more time playing music.
Looking on the web I have found some excellent resources for guitar tuition, The Essential Guitar Guide provides a good background to music theory. Despite having taken recorder lessons when I was at school I never learnt scales or much about music theory. Being a logical and mathematically inclined person, it opens a new dimension to what has to now been a more basic aesthetic music comprehension.
With WholeNote’s lessons covering a range of styles and techniques there is more than enough to keep me busy with my guitar. Shame that online resources for clarinet don’t seem to be as widespread – nonetheless I am sure there’s plenty to keep me busy for 2005.
