A List Apart is certainly one of the most useful sites for reference in setting up sites. While W3C is the place to get the full lowdown on the standards, a list apart is excellent for applying this to the actual process of web design.
Having said that – there is a lot to do to get nogwa.com into valid standard compliant code – something I have always put as a relatively high priority for all the web sites I have tinkered with. Most of the problems will be with the news feed, which I intend replacing if there are any open source rss aggregators that can be incorporated into a page.
